Calculate BPM from Beats and Time

Calculated BPM

What this calculator does

It turns your current session settings into practical timing values for arranging, editing, and synchronizing audio.

seconds per quarter note = 60 ÷ BPM

A bar uses the current meter: its duration follows the numerator and denominator, so changing the meter changes bar timing while the quarter-note duration remains tied to BPM.

Worked example: 120 BPM, 4/4, 48 kHz → 500 ms per quarter note, 2 s per bar, 24,000 samples per quarter note, 96,000 samples per bar.

FAQ

What does BPM measure?

BPM means beats per minute. In this calculator, it sets the duration of a quarter note and the speed of the beat pulse.

Why does sample rate change the sample count but not the duration?

Tempo determines musical time. Sample rate only changes how many digital samples are used to represent that same amount of time.
